Louis Cha, Jin Yong Jin Yong China News Service reported that Cha's post in the association is yet to be decided as an earlier rumor over his being named CWA's Honorary Vice-President has been denied by the association.

Cha's inclusion in the CWA has sparked heated debates after the association posted its potential new member list on its website a week ago.

Many netizens questioned the purpose of CWA's invitation and believed that the controversial association just wants to benefit from Cha's fame.

While others oppose Cha's membership, arguing Cha is not qualified as he has announced his quit from writing.

On the other hand, however, many famous Chinese writers support Cha's new membership. Zhang Xianliang, a senior writer and member of CWA's presidium, said it is very natural for Cha to become a member since he is a renowned martial arts novelist. Others even think Cha should have joined the body earlier.

Seven writers from Hong Kong and Macao, including Louis Cha, are among the year's new members of the CWA.

Popular mainland online literature writer Dangnian Mingyue, who has made fame for his scintillating history series "The Story about the Ming Dynasty", was also on the new member list.
