| Hot-air Balloons Fly over Qiongzhou Strait |

Eleven hot air balloons successfully crossed the Qiongzhou Strait between Guangdong and Hainan provinces in south China on Monday, setting a new record in the annual H1 China Hot-air Ballooning Competition 2009. The balloons flew from Haikou, Hainan province, to the Leizhou Peninsula in Guangdong province, for 18 kilometers, the shortest distance the Strait stretches. The Competition was first held in 2007 during which altogether 10 balloons finished the flight.
